Ans: Here 'he' is the little bird.

When the princess took hold of him, he suspected nothing because he was quite accustomed to this.

(b) Why did the little bird stop in the middle of his song?

Ans: The little bird stopped in the middle of his song because in the cage he did not feel like singing.

(c) How did he try to free himself from the cage?

Ans: He tried to slip through the bars of the cage and beat against the door in an effort to free himself from the cage.

Ans: To make the little bird happy Princess took the cage of the bird out to rice field and promised to take him out everyday.


(b) Why did the Princess give "a sob of relief"?

Ans: Princess gave 'a sob of relief ' because she felt that the heart of the little bird was beating still.


(c) Why was the little bird granted freedom by the Princess?

Ans: Princess September loved the little bird and she realised that the bird would die if he was kept in the cage like a prisoner. So the Princess granted him freedom.

(d) "Then he opened his wings and flew right away into the blue." Would the little bird return to the Princess again? Give reasons for your answer.

Ans: I am sure that the little bird would return to the Princess because he really loved the Princess.
